Contrairement au Bobette I, le II est un folding conventionnel. L'un n'est pas la suite de l'autre, car les deux modèles ont été vendus simultanément. Leur point commun est l'utilisation du film de 35 mm de large, non perforé, destiné au cinéma. Le négatif obtenu mesure réellement 22 x 32 mm, et non 22 x 31 ou 22 x 33 comme annoncé.
Les deux modèles proviennent de Ernemann, où ils ont été les premiers appareils a utiliser ce format de film.
